Consumer Welfare Association came into existence in 2003 and is a registered organization as per the definition of the Consumer Protection Act.

CWA has been fighting for the rights of the consumers for nearly two decades. We are a voluntary consumers association dedicated to the cause of consumers in Mumbai, Maharashtra seeking relief for the loss suffered due to deficiency in service, defect in goods and unfair business practices under the provisions of The Consumer Protection Act 2019.

Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) entertains complaint pertaining to Housing, Mediclaim Insurance, Travel & Tourism, defective goods (Consumer durables, Automobiles Electric/electronic goods, Textiles), deficiency in performance of service providers (Banking, Airlines, Railways. Education, Postal, Telecom, Transport, couriers etc.)

CWA was also instrumental in procurement of land and the setting up the Additional District Consumer Forum in Bandra pursuant to the order passed by the Bombay High Court, in a PIL filed by the CWA.

The members and activist of the CWA have been regulars on the Panels of the District Councils as well as on various panel for the railways and electricity board, as representatives of the Consumers.

CWA provides free guidance and advice. We also empower Consumers to file complaints and defend them on their own.

We provide legal assistance and offers facility of intervening on behalf of the Consumers at the preliminary stages.

Mediation / Intervention

CWA has constituted a panel of activists & advocates to participate in mediation proceedings between the Consumer & Opposite parties if invited to settle grievances.

The Consumer Welfare Association has constituted a panel of activists and advocates to participate in mediation proceedings between the Consumer & Opposite parties if invited to settle grievances that arise between the parties in a fair and just manner so that inordinate delay & enormous costs involved in litigation is avoided by both parties.

The Association also offers the facility of intervening on behalf of the Consumer at the preliminary stage after receiving a complaint by issuing a notice to the Opposite party stating the facts and outlining the merits of the grievance of the Consumer who is entitled to relief and compensation if it becomes necessary to file a complaint before the appropriate Fora under the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act
